COVID-19 UPDATE
- Following COVID-19 guidelines at this time parents are not permitted in the buidling until further notice. *Exception - one parent may accompany any child under the age of 6 to the lobby area for drop off and pick up only,
- Dancers will be sanitize hands upon entering and exiting the studio and before and after using the washroom. We encourage dancers to bring a personal bottle of hand sanitizer with them to use in the studio, however hand sanitizer will be available in each studio and throughout the faciltiy.
- Street shoes must be removed and changed into indoor dance shoes
- Dancers will bring all personal belongings into the studio. The dressing rooms will be closed.
- Frequent cleaning and disinfecting all areas of the studio will be completed throughout the day, using a professional fogging machine.
- Washrooms will be cleaned after each use.
- Class sizes will be limited.
- Masking is optional for everyone entering, exiting the building and in common areas.
- Please arrive at the studio 10 minutes early to be allow time for us to check everyone in.

1st Term – September 12th-December 5th, 2023, 2nd Term – December 6th-March 20th, 2023, 3rd Term – March 21st-June 12th, 2023
Annual 43rd Dance Recital - 'Showtime 2023' will be held in June 11th and 12th at the Algonquin Commons Theatre.
All communication is sent via email; please keep a current address on file in the office!
The school year will consist of 36 weeks of classes held over a ten-month period.
A student may join at any time from September through December if there is space available.
The studio will be closed for major holidays and school vacations – see our yearly calendar.
There will be Summer Dance offering Day Camps, Intensive Workshop and general keep in shape dance classes.
Missed Classes
Please call the office to schedule make-up classes.
Credit will not be given for missed classes due to illness, snow days, or personal vacations.
Snow Cancellations
Please check our instagram and facebook or call the studio (613-692-4653) and the answering machine will have a recorded message that will announce studio closings in case of inclement weather.
Studio closings will be posted on our website on the calendar, and when possible, you will receive an email. We will hold classes except under exceptionally dangerous driving conditions, use discretion.
Due to the inherent risk involved in the physical activity of dancing, parents agree to release Denise Smith Dance Studio and its staff from any liability in case of accident or injury.
Denise Smith Dance Studio is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property. Any items left at the studio will be placed in the lost and found. Anything unclaimed after 1 month will be donated to charity.
Enrollment in each class is at the discretion of the studio directors.
The studio has the right to substitute teachers where necessary.
Water breaks are given with the teacher’s permission. It is expected that students will respect all studio spaces and keep them clean.
Dancers are NOT to chew gum in class. We also ask that dancers leave jewelry at home! We recommend leaving these valuable items at home, cell phones are not permitted in class, but may be placed at the teachers music station to keep safe during class.
If a dancer is being disruptive in the classroom their instructor will give them a warning. After such a warning, the teacher has the right to remove the child from their class if they feel it is necessary. Parents will be notified in this event.
Photo/Video Consent
Upon any class registration, implied consent is given to use any photographs taken for use in any photographs taken for use in studio publications including the DSDS website or other electronic forms of media. If you do not consent you have the option to decline permission by notifying the studio office in writing.

Moving Virtually and Contingency Plan
In the event that stricter social distancing be required again, our in-studio classes will move online. Refunds or credits will not be given for classes that have moved virtually. Any class that cannot be moved virtually will receive a studio credit on your account. No refunds will be given. Should an outbreak occur at our studio, we will follow the direction of Public Heath in regards to closing the studio temporarily, moving virtually, and contact tracing. Anyone not feeling well should stay home and contact the studio, dancers and faculty that show any symptoms upon arrival or anytime throughout the evening will be sent home.
